Alta Badia (Hochabtei) is the highes place in the Valley of Gader in Alto Adige. 6 villages – Corvara, Colfosco, La Villa, San Cassiano, Badia and La Val – are placed in the marvelous landscape high above sea level. The villages are surrounded by the majestic mountains of the Dolomites. Dealing with regional challenges Alta Badia and its inhabitants have developed a unique culture, full of tradition and also a special language only spoken in this region: Ladin. The Valley of Gader presents breathtaking views of green fields and woods, of steep mountains of the Sella Group as well as the Sassonghers Mountain, the Gherdenacia and the “Kreuzkofel”.
Skiing Vacation in the Dolomites
The region is very famous for their skiing area around the incredibly notorious Gran Pisa Slope, where since 1985 the Alpine Ski World Cup takes place regularly. As a very special attraction of the region of Alta Badia the Gran Risa is known as the most difficult race track for giant slalom; with an incline of up to 53% the slope this route is a special challenge for young and old professional skiers. In addition to this attraction also 130 well prepared slopes with powder snow in the shadow of the Dolomites invite skiers to visit. 53 aerial transports (including ski lifts and cable cars) bring our guests comfortably to the slopes.
